Dutch oven styles we supply

  • Pre-seasoned cast iron dutch ovens — bare cast iron with a baked-on vegetable-oil seasoning, two loop handles and a tight cast iron lid. The classic, hard-wearing SKU and usually the lowest entry price.
  • Enameled dutch ovens — cast iron coated inside and out with porcelain (vitreous) enamel; see the enameled section below.
  • Oval dutch ovens — longer bodies for whole chickens, roasts and loaves; popular in enameled ranges.
  • Bread ovens and shallow casseroles — low-sided “braiser” shapes and domed bread pots; see also cast iron bakeware.
  • Double dutch ovens — a deep pot whose lid doubles as a shallow skillet, a strong bundle SKU for e-commerce.
  • Camp-style dutch ovens — three legs, a flanged lid for coals and a wire bail handle, built for campfire cooking: these have their own page, camping dutch ovens.

Enameled dutch ovens and enameled cast iron

An enameled dutch oven is the same cast iron body finished with porcelain enamel fused on in a kiln. Interiors are commonly a light sand or cream enamel (easy to see browning) or a matte black enamel; exteriors come in solid glossy colors, gradient (ombré) sprays and matte finishes. Enamel needs no seasoning by the end user and suits acidic dishes, which is why many brands carry both a pre-seasoned and an enameled line.

Enamel color, gloss and gradient are matched to your color standard at the sample stage. Rim treatment (exposed black rim or fully enameled), knob material and interior color are chosen per SKU. Food-contact documentation and testing for enameled ware are arranged per your market’s requirements and confirmed per order — we do not publish results on this site.

Dutch oven sizes, shapes and weights

US retail sizes dutch ovens by volume in quarts. A practical range runs from about 2 qt (sides, sauces, one or two people) through 5–6 qt (the best-selling family size and the usual bread-baking size) to 7–9 qt for batch cooking and foodservice. Oval shapes are typically quoted around 4–8 qt.

Cast iron is heavy, and weight drives freight cost and the end user’s experience. As a planning figure, a pre-seasoned 5 qt round dutch oven with lid is roughly 12–14 lb (5.5–6.5 kg); an enameled one of similar size is in the same region. Wall thickness, lid style and handle design move these numbers, so final weights are confirmed per SKU. Full size and weight tables are in the specs & selection guide.

Dutch oven with lid: lids, knobs and handles

Every dutch oven ships with a lid. Lids are cast iron (self-basting drip points under the lid are a common option), tempered glass with a stainless rim, or enameled cast iron to match the body; fit is set per diameter. Knobs are cast iron, stainless steel or phenolic; the oven-use temperature a knob can take depends on its material and is stated per SKU on your packaging and instructions. Side handles are cast loop handles sized for oven mitts, and some designs add a helper lip or pour spouts.

Who buys cast iron dutch ovens from us

Cookware brands launch or extend a dutch oven line under their own name; kitchen, department-store and chain retailers want a private label or exclusive color; restaurant and foodservice suppliers source serving cocottes and batch-cooking pots; outdoor brands add camping dutch ovens; and e-commerce sellers want well-packed, giftable boxes. See OEM & private label or wholesale, or combine a dutch oven with skillets in a cast iron cookware set.

Frequently asked questions

Pre-seasoned or enameled — which dutch oven should we stock?

Pre-seasoned bare cast iron is rugged, lower in price and goes on the grill or campfire; enameled is ready to use without seasoning, suits acidic dishes and sells on color. Many brands carry both. Our specs guide compares them.

What dutch oven sizes sell best?

In the US, 5–6 qt round is the usual core size; 2–3 qt and 7 qt round out a range, and oval shapes add variety. We quote any size in our patterns and new sizes on request.

Does every dutch oven come with a lid?

Yes. Lids are cast iron (self-basting drip points under the lid are a common option), tempered glass with a stainless rim, or enameled cast iron to match the body; fit is set per diameter.

What is the difference between this and a camping dutch oven?

A kitchen dutch oven has a flat base and a domed lid for stovetop and oven use. A camping dutch oven stands on three legs over coals, has a flanged lid that holds coals on top and a wire bail handle for hanging.

What is the MOQ and lead time?

Both are quoted per SKU. MOQ depends mainly on the item, finish (pre-seasoned or enameled, enamel color), logo method and packaging — stock patterns with a laser-marked logo in neutral packaging start lower than new cast-in logos, custom enamel colors or printed retail boxes. Lead time depends on the pattern, finish and season. Send your quantities and we confirm both on the quotation — see the packaging & MOQ section of our specs guide.

Is your cookware certified or tested for food contact?

We do not display certification badges or publish test results on this site. Food-contact documentation and testing are arranged per the buyer’s market requirements and confirmed per order: tell us the destination market and sales channel, and we confirm on the quotation which documentation and third-party testing can be arranged for your specific SKUs. See the export documentation section of our specs guide.
